Forget everything you thought you knew about poetry slams—this is the one everyone will be talking about.

Poetic Justice: The Artistic Experience is taking over the Island SPACE Caribbean Museum on Friday, April 26, 2025, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., and it’s bringing more than metaphors. Hosted by internationally renowned poet-author Frankie Red Wordz and acclaimed poet and curator Mecca Grimo, this event is where art, culture, and unapologetic truth-telling collide.

Held in celebration of National Poetry Month, Poetic Justice is a full-bodied, mic-dropping, truth-telling cultural experience that blends Caribbean flavor, intergenerational storytelling, and powerful performances. This isn’t just an open mic—it’s a movement wrapped in rhythm, resistance, and realness.

The lineup? Unforgettable.

Expect to hear from spoken word artists across South Florida and the Caribbean diaspora, including Haitian mental health speaker Ben Francois, global force Mori Taiye, National Slam Champion Just John, Miami Gardens’ Poet Laureate May Reign, and event curator and crowd-mover Quick the Poet. These artists aren’t here to play nice—they’re here to speak truth, spark thought, and shake souls.

The experience will also feature a heartfelt segment where youth and professional poets exchange spoken word letters to their past and future selves—creating a moving dialogue across generations. This moment is made possible by student participants coordinated by Permission to Succeed Education Center, with support from Fe Pou Li – Children’s Hope Chest of Dreams and Positivity Pays.

But that’s not all. Guests will enjoy live music by The Tribe Band, featuring Eudora Sage on saxophone and Royce on keys, as well as access to the museum’s expansive Caribbean artifact collection and a special pop-up art exhibit.

So if you’re looking for something that will move you, challenge you, and stay with you long after the mic drops—this is it. See you there.
