There is nothing better than a refreshing drink, especially this time of year.

It is officially summer! With some traveling plans on hold, it’s nice to find ways to escape reality. What better way than with a delicious drink. Whether you’re looking for a non-alcoholic beverage to quench your thirst that the sweltering summer heat brings, or you would like a nice alcoholic drink to relax. We got you covered. Here are four recipes that I think you would enjoy and appreciate.

Watermelon Lemonade

Who doesn’t love lemonade? This Watermelon Lemonade recipe is a great kid friendly beverage that’s perfect for a barbecue, pool party, or any time you would like a twist on traditional lemonade.

You will need:

  • 4 cups of cubed Seedless Watermelon

  • 1/2 cup of Sugar

  • 2 cups of Water

  • 1/2 cup of Lemon Juice

Putting it all together

  1. Combine sugar and 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil. Stir to dissolve. Allow to cool.

  2. Place watermelon, sugar, and lemon juice in a blender. Run until completely liquified.

  3. Add remaining 1 1/2 cups of water and mix.

  4. Chill and serve. Ice is optional. You can garnish your drink with watermelon or lemon slices.


Ginger Peach Iced Green Tea

Iced Tea is an old-time favorite drink. Instead of using the powders or buying bottles from the store, why not brew your own? This is one recipe that is delicious and healthy.

You will need

  • 2 ripe peaches peeled, pitted, and puréed in a blender

  • 4 cups of steeped green tea use loose green tea leaves or tea bags

  • 2 tbsp of very finely grated fresh ginger root

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey

Putting it all together

  1. Steep the tea leaves, using very hot, but not boiling water.

  2. Add the grated ginger to the tea right away.

  3. Pour the peach purée into a one-quart Mason jar or pitcher, add the tea and gently stir in the maple syrup or honey, a little at a time until you’ve reached the desired sweetness. Chill.

Pineapple Rum Slush

This tropical drink will surely add a delectable splash to your beautiful sunny day. With three simple ingredients, its quick, easy, and surely an enjoyable treat.

You will need

  • 16 ounces of cubed frozen pineapple

  • 3/4 cup of coconut water or pineapple juice

  • 3 ounces or 6 tablespoons = 2 filled shot glasses of rum

Putting it all together

  1. Pour the coconut water and rum into a blender. Add pineapple cubes and cover.

  2. Blend until mixture is smooth and no chunks remain. If mixture is too thick or difficult to blend, add another 1/4 cup of coconut water.

  3. Taste and add more rum if desired.

  4. Pour into glasses and enjoy. You can use a pineapple chunk sliced halfway through as a garnish.

Alternative Options

  • Clear rum can be substituted with dark, spiced, coconut, or another fruit flavored rum.

  • Coconut water can be substituted with coconut milk, pineapple juice, or orange juice.

  • In a low-calorie version, you can substitute half of the frozen pineapple with ice.

  • In a non-alcoholic version you can substitute the rum with more coconut water.


Blueberry Mojito

This mojito will surely give your palette a rush. The tart lime coupled with the sweet blueberries is a match made in heaven.

You will need

  • 1 Cup Fresh Blueberries (Set aside a few for garnish if desired)

  • 4 Ounces Rum

  • 10 Fresh Mint Leaves

  • 2 Teaspoons White Sugar

  • Juice of 2 Limes

  • 6 Ounces Club Soda

  • Ice Cubes

Putting it all together

  1. Blend or muddle blueberries until smooth. Set aside.

  2. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to blend in mint leaves and sugar.

  3. Stir in rum, lime juice, and blueberry mixture.

  4. Pour into glasses over club soda & ice. Gently stir.

  5. Garnish with extra blueberries, lime, and mint if desired.
