Ady Del Valle

This month’s Fatshionable style icon, is Ady Del Valle known to his 21k+ followers as @ _adydelvalle. Born and raised in Boston, Del Valle is an established gay plus-size model and also works in social services at a Family Resource Center that supports victims of human trafficking, sexual assault and domestic violence.

As Shapely takes this month of June to explore diversity, inclusion and equity we are excited to highlight Del Valle as our Fatshionable style icon.

Del Valle began his modeling career in 2016 and has worked with brands such as Sephora, the NYC 2020 Pride organization, and many more. As seen in his recent interview with INTO, modeling became an opportunity for Del Valle after he participated in his first runway show and realized after much feedback that people want and loved to see a different body type.

Identifying more on the non-binary spectrum, Del Valle has become an advocate for body-positivity as well as acknowledging that a lot more progress can be made to also celebrate “the differently-abled, older and queer, and those who don’t conform to the gender binary.”

Del Valle also launched the online platform, The Latinx Creative a year ago to further  advance diversity efforts by highlighting creatives in both the BIPOC and Latinx communities. It seems like this is just the beginning of the work that Del Valle is providing society and besides his amazing style and taste, he is pushing the envelope further when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion in fashion and media. To learn more about Ady Del Valle feel free to follow him on Instagram.
