June is a big month here at Shapely. Dubbing myself a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion champion, this issue is jam packed with all things “DE&I.” What sets us apart from the rest? Not only do we amplify the voices of specific groups acknowledging them by name, we are also acknowledging that there are many intersectionalities that make us well, us! I am an African-American woman of size. All three of those identifiers have and can limit my level of inclusion in certain situations.

With this issue, I hope to open your mind, heart and eyes to seeing the world not only through your lens, but through the lens of others. In our “Acts of Inclusion” article, you will find practices you can incorporate into your everyday life to be more inclusive and mindful of others.

We’re also dropping some Juneteenth knowledge. Being a minority-lead team, Juneteenth is a day I hold dear and am eager to inform others about. With June being host to both Pride and Juneteenth, we have stocked our shop with statement tees that will have you spreading your message and looking darn good while doing it. A portion of Pride and Juneteenth proceeds will be donated to supporting organizations. For Juneteenth proceeds will go to Until Freedom while Pride proceeds will go to Trinity Place Shelter.

You asked and we listened. Have you noticed the new and improved videos page? Now you can search by category or long scroll through our catalog. I hope you enjoy this functionality upgrade. All feedback is welcomed so feel free to drop us a line and let us know. Thanks for your continued support and enjoy this month’s issue of Shapely.
