A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
This is one of my favorite issues as it is one of my favorite topics. With a long-standing passion for sharing information about different places and spaces, this issue is jam packed with content and events related to just that. Shapely's minute reviews which you can find on the videos page, has quite a bit of fatty friendly eateries and experiences which will take you from Philadelphia to Aruba, no flight needed.
Right after Summer but slightly before the holidays is typically when people begin to question their body image and their overall view of themselves. Some start planning for next year's summer body and others are clearing the racks of all the stretchy pants to get ready for the holiday season. Let's not forget, here comes Halloween with all the candy and snacks our hearts desire. Which way do you go? Whichever way you feel comfortable. Whatever you decide, you'll find an article or two to guide you along the way.
In this issue you can find travel resources. Our article titled “Seat belt extender - To ask or not to ask?” has information that will help you remove the stigma of requiring one and has a few do's and dont’s according to FAA regulations and airline policies. With this issue being about all things fatty friendly we thought, what about the big screen. BET recently dropped the pilot for Curves. A show that highlights the fun and complexities of navigating a variety of relationships among a group of plus size women. This month's episode of Shapely TV features Sky Blair, the writer and creator. Our fashion highlight slays, per usual, and we’re repping for all body types just in time for National Plus Size Appreciation Day.
Have you visited our events page lately? Not only is it packed with plus size and plus size friendly events, but we've announced two Shapely Signature Events. A virtual Twerkshop taking place on Saturday, October 2 at 4pm/ET and the in-person Big Brunch which takes place on Sunday, November 14 from 2-6pm/ET. Tickets for both events are on sale now.
