In previous years, when one thought of the word “wellness,” the image of a plus size body did not come to mind. Now in 2021, with the body positive revolution in full swing, what we envision when we hear certain words are starting to change. I attribute a lot of this to social media, individuals being able to create their own narratives, tell their own stories, and become less reliant on the mainstream media for what the public sees.

As this continues, we are steadily realizing that we are worthy of everything the “average” human being is worthy of and boy are we coming for it. In this issue, we are indulging in all things wellness and challenging you to improve your quality of life physically, mentally and fiscally. With articles that encourage you to become more active, fiscally conscious and even put down your phone for a moment or two, I hope you find this content encouraging, relatable and inspirational.

This month is also an exciting month for Shapely as we head to Cancun for our highly anticipated Fat and Active Workshop. We have our Fat and Active gear packed, swag bags stuffed and are ready to host you at the lovely Breathless Cancun Riviera. We are also excited to offer an exciting lineup of events to keep your social life poppin’ as the world continues to open up.

With the Summer Olympics beginning this month, we’re ‘Going for Gold’ with weekly virtual challenges designed to have you up, out and moving! Did I mention that there are prizes attached? Make sure you’re following Shapely’s Instagram account@shapelyevents for challenge updates and a chance to be featured.

As always, thanks for your continued support and I hope that you enjoy this month’s issue of Shapely.
